Director: Joseph Sargent

Writer: Hal Barwood, Matthew Robbins

Cast: Gregory Peck, Dan O'Herlihy, Ed Flanders, Ivan Bonar, Ward Costello

Synopsis: Gregory Peck delivers a solid performance in this introspective biopic that charts a decade in Gen. Douglas MacArthur's career, starting in 1942 as he takes command of a regiment in the Philippines, only to be recalled by President Roosevelt. Focusing on MacArthur's World War II and Korean War years, the film recounts his 1945 liberation of the Philippines and his prickly relationship with President Truman, which led to MacArthur's dismissal.  Peck's portrayal of MacArthur is nuanced and brilliant, subtly capturing his posture and movement, along with his many different pipes. According to Peck, this role was always one of his favorites.
